On a low hillock in former demesne land. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a roughly oval enclosure (c. 30m by c. 20m) planted with trees. On 3rd ed. (1932), it appears as a circular area (D c. 30m). All that is visible are faint traces of a roughly circular band of vegetation (D c. 35m) which encircles the foot of the hillock from E through S to W. Possibly a landscape feature.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
