What is recorded here

In E half of an early ecclesiastical enclosure (GA072-042001-). The remains comprise a rectangular nave and chancel church (E-W; L >12m, Wth 6.6m) in poor condition. Only E gable and E half of N and S side-walls still stand. There is a narrow flat-headed doorway in N wall of chancel (L 4m, Wth 6.6m): possibly a late insertion or the entrance to a sacristy, now gone. The embrasure of a single-light window is visible in E gable, and there are also two single-light windows in S wall, one in the chancel, the other in the nave. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
