What is recorded here

In undulating farmland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1928) as a small unenclosed oval area (E-W c. 20m, N-S c. 10m). All that survives is an area of thistles and dock leaves, amongst which some small boulders are visible. According to local tradition, the last burial took place about 50 years ago. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
