What is recorded here

To NW of a byroad in the vicinity of a holy well (GA063-016001-) and a stream. A group of some 12 small cairns of loose stone are visible to W and NW of the holy well along with four D-shaped shelters, also of stone. These may have been penitential stations associated with devotions at the well. (Robinson 1985, 43). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
