What is recorded here

On a W-facing slope in grassland. Roughly subrectangular graveyard (E-W; L c. 55m, Wth c. 5m) enclosed by a stone wall with an entrance at N. Though most of the graves are modern, the name of the graveyard and the td. suggest that this site may be an ancient one. (O'Flanagan 1927, Vol. 1, 248) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
