What is recorded here

On W-facing slope of a low hill. Circular rath (D 36m), in fair condition, defined by a bank and external fosse. A scarp forms the enclosing element from SSW to NW. The fosse is visible from NW to NE and survives as a shallow depression. Several low earthen mounds to NE and E may be the remains of old field boundaries. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
