What is recorded here

On a rise in grassland. Very poorly preserved oval rath (NW-SE 33m, NE-SW 26m) defined by a denuded bank, which is visible intermittently, and a scarp. A very shallow external fosse survives along S and is visible elsewhere as a dark band of vegetation. A gap (Wth 3.2m) at N may be original. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
