On E side of roadway, to SW of the monastic complex (GA058-004001-). A roughly built mortared stone pier (L 1.3m, Wth 1.22m, H 2.7m) erected on a stone plinth. The monument tapers slightly towards the top where it is capped by a rectangular stone, on top of which a small pillar stone rises. A recess in N wall probably held a commemorative plaque.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
