What is recorded here

On SW-facing slope in grassland. Conjoined ringfort in fair condition. The N enclosure (NE-SW 55.5m, NW-SE 38.5m), oval in plan, is defined by a bank and external fosse. The fosse survives from W through N to NNE, and a field wall overlies the bank from N to NE. The S enclosure (D 24.5m), circular in plan, is defined by a bank of earth and stone. A gap at NNE appears modern. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
