What is recorded here

On W slope of a low hill. A very poorly preserved roughly circular enclosure (D 72m) defined by a wide grass-covered spread of rubble within which foundation stones occur intermittently. It is overlain from E through S to W by a modern field wall. There are wide modern gaps at NW and SW. The interior, which is very disturbed by machinery crossing the site, appears to contain the denuded remains of several internal dividing walls or banks. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
