What is recorded here

In undulating grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular cashel (WSW-ENE 54.6m) defined by a grassed-over drystone wall; inner and outer wall-facing is visible at SE and S. A gap (Wth 4m) at SE could be original. Abutting the wall at SE is a rectangular structure (E-W; L 3m, Wth 1m), possibly a later animal pen. A series of field banks lie to NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
