In NW corner of a field in level grassland. The site of a 'cave' is now marked by a lintel-like stone. According to local information, the 'entrance' was blocked up with stones and soil during recent field-clearance operations. It reputedly runs on a N-S axis but could only be traced for 1.5m or so to N of the 'entrance'.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
