What is recorded here

On a rise in grassland. Poorly preserved circular cashel (D 33m) defined by a low drystone wall. A gap at N may be original. Within the interior are two low stone walls, one running N-S, the other NW-SE, possibly internal divisions. Traces of a possible souterrain are visible in W sector where a spoon-shaped hollow (L 11m), running E-W, is visible. A ringfort (GA044-054----) lies 100m to N. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
