What is recorded here

In undulating grassland. Aerial reconnaissance in September 1984 (ASGAP 167:65) bought to light a series of earthworks covering an area of c. 15 acres. Within N half of the system are the remains of three houses of similar size (L 12m, Wth 6m), two with internal divisions. Small patches of lazy beds are visible between them. To S, a series of grassed-over banks of earth and stone are visible, and a rectangular hollow (L7m, Wth 6m) could represent a fourth house. Near E limits of the complex is an enigmatic circular enclosure. A ringfort (GA043-088----) and CBG (GA043-088001-) lie c. 100m W. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
