What is recorded here

On a rise in gently undulating grassland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1920) as an oval enclosure (c. 60m by c. 50m) defined by a curving field boundary from SSE through W to NNW and elsewhere by hachures. No visible surface trace survives of it or the 'Cave' (probable souterrain) (GA042-178001-) marked on OS 6-inch maps within it limits. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
