What is recorded here

On a gentle rise in undulating grassland immediately S of a byroad. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map as a semicircular kink in the td. boundary. A slight curve in the field wall, and the adjoining section of the byroad, would appear to mark its line from SW through N to NNE, while a faint curving rise is also visible along E side. Though faint, these features may indicate an enclosure of c. 35m in diameter. The interior is now used as a vegetable garden. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
