What is recorded here

On a S-facing slope in grassland. Almost circular rath (E-W 28m, N-S 27m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse best preserved from S through W to NW. A field wall cuts the monument at NNE and SE, to E of which the enclosing elements are very poorly preserved. Within SW section of the interior, a low bank running NW-SE is possibly an internal division. The N half has been quarried out. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
