Part of the early ecclesiastical remains at Kilbenan (GA029-017004-) it lies 150m to N of the church (GA029-017002-). An elongated cairn of stone (L 10m, Wth 4m, H 1.5m), its long axis running N-S, which is locally believed to be the final resting place of St Benan. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
