What is recorded here

In level grassland. Well-preserved subcircular rath (E-W 42m, N-S 39m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. A trackway cuts the monument at NE and NW; no visible surface trace of the fosse or outer bank survive to N of it. A pit has encroached upon the enclosing elements at E, and a field boundary cuts the monument at N and S. Gaps at SE and SW may be original. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
