What is recorded here

On the summit of a hill in undulating grassland. Poorly preserved circular rath (D c. 40m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank survives from NW to N; a scarp forms the enclosing element from N through E to SW, it is overlain by a field boundary from SW to NW. The fosse and outer bank survive from SE to SW. A CBG (GA018-013----) lies c. 400m to SE. (Melvin c. 1971, 14) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
