The settlement in Clooncon West townland named 'Gloon' may relate to the fact that St. Patrick is said to have rested and prayed there, and that locally it was believed that the impression of his knees was left in the ground surface. The knoll called the 'Hill of the Knees - Cnoc-na-nglun' is contracted to 'Gloon' (Conway c. 1980, 3) . According to local information, there is a stone in the area with the marks of St. Patick's knees on it. Possibly a bullaun stone. Not located.
