What is recorded here

Neary (1914, 113, no. 80) records that 'On E. side of Dunmore are three jutting hills crested with pretty clumps of trees, which seem to have had forts formed by scarping on their summits. They lie in arc shape, the central being the largest'. No visible surface trace survives. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
