What is recorded here

On a rise in grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (N-S 45m, E-W 42.2m) defined by two banks of earth and stone and an intervening fosse. The enclosing elements are best preserved from W to NE. Possible entrance at N. A field boundary cuts the outer bank at N. There is a souterrain (GA016-118----) within the interior. An earthwork (GA016-119----) lies c. 170m to SW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
