What is recorded here

A rectangular structure (8m E-W; 5.7m N-S) was noted in the NE corner of the bawn (GA016-062005-) associated with Kilcloony Castle (GA016-062001-) on a site inspection in August 1980 (SMR file). Recent research by FitzPatrick (2019, 22-3, Fig. 31) indicates that it is larger in extent (c. 22m E-W; c. 8m N-S) and has two internal subdivisions. Without excavation it is not possible to determine whether it is contemporary with the bawn and tower house or is a later feature. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 6 December 2022
