What is recorded here

On a N-facing hillslope overlooking coast. Known locally as 'Cliabh Cillín', it consists of a roughly oval area (N-S 12m, E-W 17.5m) delimited on N side by a low curving bank of earth and stone, traces of which are also visible at W, elsewhere by modern field boundaries. Numerous small set stones are visible in the interior, including a roughly circular setting of stones just inside the bank at N. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
