At the S end of Inishgort island. This possible promontory fort was recorded by Mr. M. Gibbons. A low-lying promontory is cut off from the rest of the island by a rampart consisting of a low grassed-over stone wall (L 120m; Wth 2m; H 0.5m). The rampart runs across the island from W to E and separates the higher N two-thirds of it from the lower S part. No trace of a ditch is evident. The promontory itself is now almost cut through by rising sea levels and frequent storm surges, and extensive storm beaches along its W and E sides have almost merged, apart from a central strip of vegetation between them, and the S tip is almost completely cut off. A cashel (GA009D047001-) and midden (GA009D048----) lie c. 42m and c. 73m to the S respectively.
