What is recorded here

Circa 150m SE of a similar hut (GA009B007----) and WSW of the headland of Dún Dubh. Poorly preserved remains of a rectangular or D-shaped drystone structure (c. 7m by c. 6m), built against a low rock face immediately SE of a small stream (info. M. Casey). This is probably the 'old residence' described by Westropp as being 'not far from the stream, and nearly opposite to Roonduff' (1911, 63, f). Not visited. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
