What is recorded here

On a prominent rise in grassland. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (D c. 55m). Neary (1914, 119 no. 15) classified it as a 'circular, earthen much-ravelled rath' and noted the existence of an outer bank. No visible surface trace survives. A church (GA005-074----) lies 100m to SSW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
