The 1st. edition OS 6-inch map (1836) shows a series of enclosures which appear to be physically attached by field boundaries (Area L. E-W c. 130m, Wth N-S 110m). The OS Letters (1837) refer to a group of circles at Ballybetagh and an accompanying sketch map shows fields and enclosures (ed. O'Flanagan, 1927, 32, unpub.). This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.
