Excavations in the interior of the promontory fort (DU023-029001-) at Dalkey Island in the mid-1950s revealed evidence for two large shell middens. The animal bone content included a high proportion of pig remains. Amongst the associated finds were polished stone axes, potsherds and limpet scoops (Liversage 1968, 62-3, 96-98, 103-4, 119-120, 132, 136, 172-4) Compiled by: Geraldine Stout and Padraig Clancy Revised upload on: 28 July 2018
