Shown as 'old Tower' on the OS 1843 6-inch map. D'Alton (1838, 790) describes a small ruin of a tower with detached walls adjacent which he believed to be the chapel of Grange. Joyce writes that it was a square tower or watch tower, entered by a pointed arched door. There are no visible remains above ground. (O Conbhui 1963, 64).
