O'Curry describes how a workman, while clearing out part of the castle fosse, 'turned up another shapeless lump of stone about two hundred weight with a round cavity about a foot deep and a foot wide at the top, tapering to the bottom (O'Curry 1837, 32). He also states that in workmanship it corresponds with the other stone (DU021-037021-) and font (DU021-037009-) (O'Curry 1837, 33; Handcock 1899, 35). Handcock states that the material used was 'foreign porphyry' (Handcock 1899, 35). This was located in the Rosary Garden (Bradley & King 1988, 333).
