According to Ua Broin (1944, 200) Bridewell lane which ran from the well to the Naas Road is a survival of an old road that ran from Clondalkin to Tallaght. Shown as 'Belgard road' S of the Naas road it passed to the W of and very near Newlands House and Belgard Castle. Compiled by Geraldine Stout
