What is recorded here

The process of recovering salt from sea water was in use at Clontarf in the 17th century. There were evaporation beds on the shoreline near the landward end of the Bull Wall (De Courcy 1996, 348). The exact location of these evaporation beds is unknown.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows only the centre of the wider government map area. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
