No.70 Thomas Street is a mid-terrace two-bay four-storey brick house, c.7m wide and c.11m in height to parapet, with a modern timber shopfront and carriage arch at ground level. The building is estimated to date from the mid-eighteenth century, however the reconstructed third floor, steep roof with ridge running perpendicular to the street, and large central chimney stack and evidence of corner chimneys all suggest earlier origins, possibly a ‘Dutch Billy’ typology.
