Excavations in 1996 revealed the foundations of the south-east corner of a large stone building were also recovered at the northern end of the site, standing less than 0.4m in height and extending beneath Cecilia House on the western side of the site. This probably represents the foundations of one of the mansions built c. 1600 in this area. (Simpson, 1997, 20).
