What is recorded here

Archaeological assessment in 2002 revealed a Viking burial oriented west-east within a cut in boulder clay (Simpson 2004, 154-5). A glass bead, silver finger ring, a small twisted silver ring and a corroded metal disc were found around the base of the skull and are thought to have been worn around the neck. A further iron object was found to the S of the burial. The evidence suggests an individual, Viking , male dated to the 9th century.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
