Archaeological monitoring of a foundation trench at 4-5 High Street revealed evidence for 11th-mid 13th century activity. Features included a cess pit and a post and wattle structure. Amongst the finds were bronze cloak pins, combs, knives, spearheads and nails. The pottery included ware from Dublin and SW England (Murtagh , 1990, 23-24).
