Archaeological excavations in 1990 revealed a section of post and wattle along the East bank of the Poddle river (L11.10m, H 0.60m). This was built free-standing on the surface of the river silt in the Thirteenth-century. It was subsequently, replaced by a stone wall (Walsh 1997, 42-44).
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
