Excavations in 1995 at 17-21 Parliament Street revealed foundations of two buildings, one fronting onto Essex Street East on the south and Parliament Street at the west. Built of uncut limestone. Both had parallel cross-walls, orientated N-S. They were built on a 17th century deposit associated with reclamation in this area (Simpson, L.1996, 21).
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
