Late 13th century documents indicate that the original Exchequer in Dublin was in the vicinity of St Georges Church (Gilbert 1854-9, 3, 181). It had a chantry chapel attached to it which was conferred on the Carmelite friars by Edmund III in 1335. Its exact position on Exchequer Street is unknown (FMD map(1978) L4).
