According to Adams (1881) the castle at Dubber was erected between 1582 and 1611 by Sir Christopher Daniel Bellingham, first Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1665 (Adams 1881, 492). It was described as a 'small castle' with other 'ruined' walls in the Civil survey (1654-6 see Simington 1945, 199). By 1881 the only remains of the castle was a door-sill which lay NW of the present house (Adams 1881, 492). Located field of low-lying pasture to the rear of Dubber House. No visible surface trace.
