What is recorded here

The earliest reference to a windmill appears in an Inquisition dating to the 4th of January 1613 (Hardiman 1826, Clinton, M.2005, 44). In 1666 it was listed amongst the possessions of St George Lane (D'Alton 1838). It was depicted on Rocque's map 1760. Not visible at ground level. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
