This site was identified as part of test excavation associated with the East–West Interconnector Project (HVC E-WIP) (Licence no. 11E0235). Located N of Rogerstown estuary, a metalled surface (2.6m min. width) that appeared to represent a roadway was identified to the E of the burials (DU008-108001-). Aligned E to W, a length of at least 60m of this road was preserved within the testing area. The association of late medieval potsherds with the fabric of this road provides a clue to the date of its construction (Mullins 2011).
