Ballymadun graveyard (dims. L 60m x Wth 50m) stands SW of the present St Joseph's Catholic Church. The remains of the medieval parish church of Ballymadun (DU006-002001-) stand in the W end of the graveyard. Sub-rectangular graveyard defined by rubble limestone wall of post-1700 date with stone capping which is showing evidence of mortar wash out and bulging in places. Entrance gate and stone stile located in NE angle of graveyard wall. Significant drop to surrounding land to W and S. Overall mix of gravestones 18th century-modern. The oldest slab dates to 1729 and is dedicated to Thomas Callan (Fingal Historic Graveyards 2008). Previously surveyed in 1992 (Egan).
