Local tradition records the existence of a cave in Gormanstown Demesne. In 1998 a section of drystone-built passage (H 1m; Wth 0.9m) was exposed in a quarry face. It was sited in the brow of a flattish ridge overlooking the Delvin River. The souterrain consisted of a short passage leading into a beehive chamber (Clinton 1998, 117-118).
