What is recorded here

In pasture, on the level top of a limestone ridge, located 10m S of the N edge of the ridge where a steep slope drops into a flat-based valley of marshy ground. Subcircular area (int. diam. 10.4m N–S; 10.5m E–W) defined by a ruined stone bank/wall. The enclosure is located on a gently N-sloping terrace, and is built up higher on the N side to compensate for the slope and create a level interior. The enclosing wall on the N half consists of a broadly slumped scarp (Wth slope 1m; ext. H 0.7-0.8m) topped with a low stony bank (Wth 1m; int. H 0.1m), almost flush with interior ground level. On the S half, the enclosing stone bank is evident as a slight rise (Wth c. 1-2m) which has a clearly defined inner scarp (int. H 0.4m) but is almost flush with exterior ground level on its outer edge. There is a gap (Wth 1.4m) in the enclosing stone bank at E. At NW a subrectangular depression (2.5m E–W; 2-2.2m N–S; D 0.8m), with large stones exposed on its S side, cuts across the enclosing stone bank, and extends into the interior. This appears to be the result of relatively recent quarrying. A similar enclosure (DG017-025----) is located c. 165m to SW.
