This church appears to have been built on the site of an earlier 17th century parish (DG053-043001-) church with adjoining graveyard(DG053-043002-) with earliest graveslab (DG053-043003-) dating from c. 1620 (SMR file 1996). Unable to locate position of graveslab dating from 1620 inside graveyard. There are two graveslabs located approx 12m S of the C of I church, one of which has a large armorial plaque but the inscription has been worn away and there is a similar slab closeby which may be 17th century in date. According to the tourist information panel about Letterkennny town one of the oldest graves in this graveyard belongs to Henry Wray who died in August 1652. Unable to locate this memorial within the graveyard at Conwal church.
