What is recorded here

A low, flat-topped, subcircular platform 33m E-W and 35m N-S. The platform is raised above the surrounding land from .1m on the S to 1m over much of the N half. There are intermittent stones around the perimeter. A 'roadway' 3m-4m wide and 0.2m below the platform surface crosses the site, near the SW edge, in a NW-SE direction. There is a marked scatter of stones between the roadway and the SW edge of the platform over a 6m x 5m area. The site which is known as a 'children's burial ground' is located on gently undulating pasture land 70m W of the Burnside River. A spur of rock outcrop adjoins the site on the NE. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Compiled by: Brian Lacey with Eamon Cody, Claire Cotter, Judy Cuppage, Noel Dunne, Vincent Hurley, Celie O'Rahilly, Paul Walsh and Seán Ó Nualláin (Lifford: Donegal County Council, 1983). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated. Date of upload: 22 September 2008
