A cist 2m × 0.5m was recorded here in 1976. It consisted of 7 stones in two lines 3 to E and 4 to W protruding through the sand with 2 stones lying nearby said to be captones (Lacy — unpublished notes). No end stones were noted. The cist was sand-filled. Fragments of bone had been found at the site in the past. A second cist was noted a few metres to the N. Neither of these could be located on this occasion. The site is located on ground rising from Portbane Strand and is subject to much sand shifting.
